Born in Lisbon, he holds a degree in Law from the Catholic University of Lisbon, a Master's (LLM) and a Doctorate in Law from the Lisbon Law school. He is an Associate Professor at Lisbon’s Law school and a member of the Center for International Legal Studies, Salzburg. He received a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the Amélia Silva de Mello Foundation and the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst). He was received several times by Professor Claus Wilhelm Canaris to do research at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich.
In the graduation course he has taught or is teaching the disciplines of Introduction to Law, General Theory of civil Law, Law of obligations, Philosophy of Law, Property law (ius in rem), Law of Contracts I and Law of Contracts II. At Master’s and PhD level, he has been teaching Civil Law, Private Environmental Law, Banking Law, Institutional Law of Insurance, Company Law. He is the author of several dozen publications. He has been engaged as jurisconsult, retained as legal expert in international arbitration courts, he is a national and international arbitrator and he is also a partner of the law firm Albuquerque Advogados.
